Where Are You Going? And When, If Not Now?

“Oh, but what if a tree falls on us?” asked Rabbit.
“Oh but what if it doesn’t?” answered Pooh

Winter is coming upon us fast. The dark days, like flapping wet blankets, will soon blow into the Pacific Northwest. The darkness around us does not penetrate to our insides though; we keep the light on for you. It is the light of optimism and of visions yet to be accomplished. The thrill of  a season change reminds me I can start over in areas where I feel I have failed.

It makes for an exciting life, and fun too if I let it be. But I must keep my mind clear and focused. It is too easy to become spiritually lazy, to procrastinate, to tell myself meditation takes too much time or that self-examination is simply too painful. I must not listen to these voices because the long-term price will be deadly; and knowing just how deadly keeps me determined to reach for the highest states of clarity, courage and confidence I can attain. As I said: we do keep the light on.

There is no tool as sure for turning darkness into light as a personal vision of where we want our lives to go; of what we intend to be, do and have that is beyond what we now experience. I hope you forgive me for not letting up on the subject of vision, but there is nothing more vital to our lives, to our wellbeing, to our joy, to our personal fulfillment, than the consciousness expansion that comes from reaching beyond where we are and following our bliss to new levels of wellbeing.

Let’s face it; without a personal vision there is no hope and without hope life has no meaning.

Some might find the concept of vision difficult, but in truth we each already have visions we follow either consciously or subconsciously and for the most part we’re attaining them. They may be paths directed by well-worn fantasies that we use to validate who we think we are and who we think we are not. Fantasies can be fun, but they will never lead to expanded awareness because they do not pull us out of ourselves and beyond our fears. Fantasies are like drugs that keep reality slightly out of focus.

Visions therefore have to be real—based on the truth that we are amazing creators—practically miracle workers—who can be, do and have more than we even dream. But until we know and accept that truth, improving our lives might be difficult. I have, over the past thirty-five years, with input from tens of thousands of students, developed an easy and effective process for expanding clarity, courage and confidence; the three keys to success. This triangle diagram has easy-to-follow steps that practically guarantee us reaching our goals. It has worked for thousands and it will work for any who really want to succeed and not just dream about succeeding. If you practice this short exercise every day for one year you can increase these three key strengths 360 times. Wow! What goals could you achieve with such mastery? And here’s the bonus: every tomorrow will be better than the day before it.

Okay here’s how to start: just get a vision and commit to it. Don’t make it a whopper, so far beyond you that it becomes a fantasy rather than truth. Start with a small accomplishment that seems slightly beyond you, that will thrill you and to which you are willing to commit.

I know you are seeing obstacles between you and that vision; if not you’d already have it. Yet a vision held properly looks not at obstacles; it looks beyond them and focuses on the joy of attainment. A true vision then, is filled with energy and it is a beacon by which the universe guides you past barriers, just as it does for every other life-form that is living its potential.

So what is that thing, that one precious thing, you would like to accomplish? Today you can start by just declaring your intention; it’s that easy. Tell your dearest friends and get their support. Make a plan, a mission, of how you will accomplish it and keep your mission flexible. Then the big word is Trust. You must have faith that divine energy is working for you. Follow the simple path of the Triangle and it will lead you exactly to that which you envision.

A bit of humor for you:
A Kindergarten teacher asked a little girl what she was working on.
The girl replied, "I'm drawing God."
The teacher smiled, "But, sweetheart, no one knows what God looks like."
Without looking up the little girl said, "They will in a minute."

Our Hero:
This week’s hero is you if, during this election week, you chose to vote and also that you:
a- Voted for honest common sense rather than pandering to special interests.
b- Voted to strengthen the middle class instead of your political party.
c- Trusted that America is neither injured nor healed overnight, and that it will heal.
d- Asked that a fair share of our precious taxes be spent on education and health.
If you did three of the four above, you are my hero!
